Challenge
As the illumin DSP expanded, the company required a scalable training solution to replace manual onboarding. The goal was to build a structured “illumin academy” that could certify users on proprietary canvas tools and advanced bidding logic.
Strategic approach
- Curriculum engineering: Designed modular learning paths for 45+ lessons, moving users from foundational AdTech concepts to advanced campaign optimization.
- Instructional design: Managed the full content lifecycle, ensuring a consistent voice and logical progression across four certification tracks.
- LMS implementation: Managed the backend configuration of Absorb LMS, including lesson sequencing, assessment logic, and certification triggers.

Certification adoption and completion metrics
During the Beta phase of the certification program:
- 262 learners enrolled
- 135 learners completed certification
- 45 learners are currently in progress
- Current completion rate: 51.5%
- Average time to completion: 1 hour 21 minutes
- Average learner rating: 4.62 out of 5 (114 respondents)
Performance Interpretation
The program achieved strong early adoption before full public release, with over 260 enrollments and more than 130 completed certifications during the pilot phase.
A 51.5% completion rate in Beta indicates meaningful engagement for a professional certification course. The 4.62 / 5 average rating across 114 respondents demonstrates high perceived instructional clarity and relevance.
The average completion time of 1 hour 21 minutes confirms the curriculum balances depth with efficiency, enabling marketers to achieve verified competency without excessive time burden.
