About | Rob Whyte

I’m a freelance technical writer with 25+ years of professional writing experience and eight years specializing in SaaS documentation. I’ve delivered 60+ knowledge base projects for software teams across North America, Australia, and Asia, and I work with as much or as little hand-holding as you need.

My path to technical writing wasn’t straight, but every stop along the way sharpened a skill I use daily. I wrote environmental reports for a Toronto consultancy, authored guidebooks for Lonely Planet, taught university courses in Asia, and built a library of online content and ebooks. That range gave me something most technical writers don’t have: the ability to learn a complex product fast and explain it clearly to the people who need it most.”

At the intersection of that experience, I bring plain English communication, a head for breaking down complex operations, and an eye for documentation that reduces user friction. That work has grown into AI knowledge systems and eLearning content for SaaS platforms.”
